Because the Lord loved you

jclower15

Deuteronomy 7:8--"But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt."

Deuteronomy is the second giving of the Law to the children of Israel as they are about to enter the Promised Land. They have wandered the past 40 years in the wilderness and most of the nation died. In Deuteronomy 7 the Lord is encouraging the people to be obedient to the Law and commandments.

Why did the Lord choose Israel?

They were not a great people.

They were not special.

They were not mighty.

They were not devout.

They were not very good at all.

So why did God choose them?

God made an oath with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God honours his promises. The Lord chose to keep His promises with their fathers. God chose to love this people because of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Why does God love you? Why does God love me?

He loves me because Jesus came to the cross to die for my sins. He loves me because I am saved; because I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Today, any can be saved by believing on Jesus Christ and His redemptive work at Calvary.
