Psalm 8 is all about the excellent name of the Lord. The first and last verse of the chapter are nearly identical:
Psalm 8:1--"O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens."
Psalm 8:9--"O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
Both verses contain the phrase, "O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
Why is the Lord so excellent?
1) He gives the weak strength to overcome their enemies. (V2)
2) He is the creator of Heaven and Earth. (V3)
3) He is mindful of man. (V4-5)
4) He has given man a purpose. (V6-8)
We have such a great and wonderful God! His name is excellent in all the earth, but I wonder, do all know His excellent name? We as Christians ought to be witnesses and proclaim the great and excellent name of our God!
